One of the South Bay's longest-running youth sports traditions is back for its 52nd year. The Battle at the Beach brings recreation-level basketball teams from across the region for a weekend of competition, with separate brackets for boys and girls in grades 3-8. No club teams, just rec ball. If you've got a kid who plays hoops, or you just love watching the next generation ball out, this tournament is a South Bay staple.

There's also a parachute egg drop at 3:30 PM on Saturday. Ride ticket booth opens on-site Friday night.

March 29 is National Vietnam War Veterans Day, and American Legion Post 184 in Redondo Beach is hosting its first-ever BBQ to mark the occasion. The Legionnaires, Auxiliary, Legion Riders, and Sons of The American Legion are firing up the grills for hamburgers, hot dogs, and hot links. The ROTC from Redondo Union High School will present the colors to open the event, and there will be live music throughout the afternoon. The public is welcome and encouraged to bring side dishes.
