What’s happening in the South Bay May 15-20
Hello South Bay,
Hope everyone had a good Mother’s Day weekend. We’re right in the middle of May now, which somehow means the mornings still feel gray, the weekends are getting busier, and summer is close enough that everyone is starting to fill up their weekends again.
This week has a lot going on: live music on the Redondo waterfront, the Armed Forces Day Parade in Torrance, Tour de Pier in Manhattan, a Saturday market in Riviera Village, and a few Hermosa nights worth putting on the calendar.

Hermosa’s citywide garage sale is back this Saturday after getting pushed because of rain earlier this spring. Homes across the neighborhood are setting up sales with bikes, clothes, furniture, surf stuff, kids toys, home decor, records, and the kind of random beach city finds that somehow end up in your trunk.
This is less of a single event and more of a slow Saturday morning around town. Grab coffee first, cruise the neighborhoods, and see what people are putting out front.

🎵 5th Annual San Pedro Music Festival

The San Pedro Music Festival returns to the CRAFTED courtyard with six hours of open-air music, food, vendors, and community by the harbor. This year's theme is "Blues, Rock, Latin & More," with a lineup that includes Dear Amy: A Tribute to Amy Winehouse, Todd & The Brazilians, and Street Corner Renaissance.
It is free for general admission, all-ages, and an easy San Pedro afternoon if you want live music without making a huge plan out of it.

South Hermosa is throwing a full block party Sunday to celebrate the opening of Good Neighbor and the businesses that have helped shape this stretch of the neighborhood for years. Expect coffee, music, local pop-ups, and a street full of people bouncing between Good Neighbor, Mickey’s Deli, Uncle Stavros, Hermosa Smoke & Gift, Proudly Serving, Yellow Jersey, and Bolt.
This feels less like a formal event and more like one of those Sundays where the whole neighborhood ends up outside at the same time.

Tour de Pier is back on Sunday, turning the Manhattan Beach Pier area into a beachside cycling fundraiser for cancer research. Riders log miles on stationary bikes near the Strand while music, supporters, and the Health & Fitness Expo keep the whole morning moving.
Even if you are not riding, it is worth walking through after coffee just to feel the scene around the pier.
