Hello South Bay!
Hope July’s been treating you well. It feels like summer is moving fast, and this week’s lineup kind of proves it.
There’s a lot of live music on the calendar, including Queen, Elvis, Elton, and a few easy outdoor shows by the water and in the parks. Add in beach volleyball, food and wine, and the start of International Surf Festival season, and the week got full pretty quickly.
Pick what sounds good, keep a backup in mind, and enjoy the fact that summer is still giving us plenty to work with.

This one is for anyone who still has a soft spot for late-’90s pop radio. Radio Ready is taking over the Garden with songs from Britney, Backstreet Boys, *NSYNC, and the rest of that era. It’s a nice excuse to wander the Garden after hours, grab food or drinks on-site, and make a weeknight feel less like a weeknight.

Redondo Pier has two free summer concerts this week, both happening right at the west end of the Pier. Thursday brings Marvin Gaye Soul Serenade, a tribute night built around classic soul and Motown. Then Saturday shifts gears with Chad & the Ship of Fools, bringing a post-punk set to the same waterfront stage.
It’s an easy one to keep in your back pocket: grab food nearby, walk the Pier, and catch whichever night fits your schedule.

Hermosa is a good place to be if you like beach volleyball even a little bit. The AVP Junior National Championships bring top youth players to the sand around the Pier, with matches running throughout the day. It’s easy to stop by casually, watch a few points, then wander into town for food or coffee.

Manhattan Beach Art Center opens its 2026 Annual Community Exhibition with a reception celebrating local artists connected to the city. The show features work from more than 100 artists across painting, photography, ceramics, sculpture, mixed media, and more.
It’s a good low-key Friday stop if you want something local, free, and indoors before heading into the weekend.

Mayor Mike Detoy will be there for open conversation, and the city notes light refreshments from Mickey’s Deli and Creamy Boys Ice Cream. Bring a picnic blanket if you want to stay awhile.

Andy & Renee and Hard Rain are South Bay regulars for a reason. This Torrance Summer Nights show brings their Woodstock-style mix of Americana, folk, and classic rock to Wilson Park. Pack a chair, bring dinner, and settle in for an easy Saturday evening.

Terranea’s Food and Wine Festival is the polished Sunday option this week. The resort is bringing together Terranea restaurants, local chefs, wineries, breweries, spirits, and live music along the Palos Verdes coast. It’s 21+, so this is more of a grown-up afternoon plan than a family stop.

One Night of Queen brings Gary Mullen & The Works to the Norris Outdoor Amphitheatre for a full Queen tribute show under the stars. The production has been touring for more than 20 years, built around the big songs, big vocals, and full-concert feel of Queen’s live shows.
If this is your kind of thing, it is absolutely a sing-at-the-top-of-your-lungs night.

Redondo Rager is bringing Sea Hawks together at Seaside Lagoon for a big summer reunion-style night by the harbor. The event is built around Redondo Union alumni, with food, drinks, vendors, and designated meetup areas organized by class year and decade.
Heads up: the event is at the Lagoon, but swimming is not part of the plan because of alcohol restrictions.

The Elvis Extravaganza returns to Redondo Beach for its 15th year with a “2 Kings • 1 Concert” show. This year’s lineup features two Ultimate Elvis Champions, Cote Deonath and Victor Trevino Jr., covering different eras of Elvis Presley’s music, from early rockabilly to the Vegas years.
It’s a very specific night, but if you have an Elvis fan in the family, this is the one they’ll want to know about.

It’s a very South Bay kind of night: harbor-side, community-minded, and tied to the beach culture that shapes this place more than we probably stop to think about.

It’s a good fit if you want live music that feels a little more personal than a big tribute show. Also worth noting: Deep End Live is a 21+ venue, and valid ID is required.

South Coast Botanic Garden is opening its 87 acres to dogs for special Dog Walking Hours this Sunday. Dogs are allowed through most of the Garden during designated times, with a few dog-free areas including the Rose Garden and Koi Pond.
Advanced reservations are required, and all dogs need to stay leashed the entire time, including in the parking lot.
