The South Bay Is Going Big for the Fourth
Fourth of July Events in the South Bay: July 2-8, 2026
Hello South Bay!
Fourth of July week is here, which means the South Bay calendar is a little louder than usual. Some plans are big and obvious, some are easier to keep low-key, and a few are good to know about if you want something that feels more local than crowded.
Itโs a good week to have options without overplanning it. Take a look, pick what sounds good, and keep the rest in your back pocket.
Hereโs whatโs going on ๐
This Week in My South Bay

๐บ Hermosa Beach Ironman
๐ 29th Street-ish on the Strand, Hermosa Beach
๐ Saturday, July 4 | 11 AM
๐ฐ Ticketed to participate; free to watch
This is one of the most Hermosa things on the calendar. The event combines a run, an ocean paddle, and a beer-chug finish, which is exactly as chaotic as it sounds. It is not the polished family-friendly version of the Fourth, but that is kind of the point. There is also a real community angle behind it, with proceeds going to local charities and people in need.
๐น 21+ only for participants

๐ King Harbor 4th of July Fireworks
๐ Seaside Lagoon / King Harbor, 200 Portofino Way, Redondo Beach
๐ Saturday, July 4 | Fireworks at 9 PM
๐ฐ Free public viewing after 7:30 PM
Redondoโs harbor fireworks are one of the more classic South Bay Fourth of July options. The show launches over the water, which gives you plenty of ways to catch it without needing one perfect viewing spot. Seaside Lagoon opens for public viewing later in the evening, and the pier area usually becomes part of the whole scene. Give yourself extra time if you are planning to park anywhere near the harbor.

๐ฐ๏ธ Rancho Palos Verdes July Fourth Celebration & Drone Show
๐ Ken Dyda Civic Center, 30940 Hawthorne Blvd., Rancho Palos Verdes
๐ Saturday, July 4 | 3 PM-9 PM
๐ฐ Free
RPV is going with a drone show instead of the usual fireworks finish. The afternoon includes live music, food trucks, beer and wine, inflatables, carnival games, and family activities before the show after dark. It is a good Peninsula pick if you want something festive without heading into the beach-city crowds. The drone show also gives this one a different feel from the usual Fourth of July routine.

๐ El Segundo 4th of July Celebration
๐ Stevenson Field / Recreation Park, El Segundo
๐ Saturday, July 4 | 10 AM-9:30 PM
๐ฐ Free daytime; evening wristbands required
El Segundo does the Fourth in a very neighborhood way. The day starts with community games and contests, then shifts into the evening event with food, live music, and fireworks. It has that small-town feel that El Segundo still pulls off better than most places around here. If you are going for the evening portion, make sure you check the wristband rules before showing up.

๐๏ธ Torrance Summer Nights: Satin Dollz Musical Tribute to America
๐ LA Galaxy Sports Complex, 540 Maple Ave., Torrance
๐ Saturday, July 4 | 7 PM-8:30 PM
๐ฐ Free
Torrance has a full July 4 program built around music, food, activities, and fireworks. The Satin Dollz bring the vintage vocal-harmony side of things, which gives this one a different feel from the usual park concert. It is a strong option if you want a city-run celebration without committing to the beach traffic. The fireworks finale makes it an easy one-stop plan for the evening.

๐ Village Runner 4th of July 5K & Firecracker Dash
๐ Riviera Village, Redondo Beach
๐ Saturday, July 4 | 8 AM
๐ฐ Ticketed
If you like earning the rest of your holiday, this is the morning plan. The annual 5K brings runners, walkers, families, and patriotic costumes into Riviera Village before most of the day gets going. Thereโs a costume contest before the race, plus a post-race stop at HT Grill for participants. Proceeds benefit the Redondo Beach Educational Foundation and other local school programs, which gives the whole thing a nice community angle too.

๐ธ Redondo Pier Summer Concerts
๐ Fishermanโs Wharf, Redondo Beach Pier
๐ Thursday, July 2 and Saturday, July 4 | 6 PM-8 PM
๐ฐ Free
Redondo Pierโs summer concert series starts this week, which is useful even if you are not trying to make a big plan. Running Hot kicks it off Thursday with a Rolling Stones tribute, and Ernando and the Nandos play Saturday as the holiday weekend continues. This is the kind of thing that works well before dinner, after a walk, or as a simple excuse to be by the water. No tickets, no major commitment, just an easy pier option.

๐ Redondo Beach Center for Spiritual Living, 907 Knob Hill Ave., Redondo Beach
๐ Saturday, July 4 | 9 AM-9:30 AM
๐ฐ Free, no RSVP needed
If you want a quieter way to start the Fourth, this is a simple one. Redondo Beach Center for Spiritual Living is hosting a short community meditation led by Anita Moorjani, the bestselling author and speaker known for her work around healing, self-love, and spiritual awakening. It is only 30 minutes, so it fits before the rest of the holiday starts moving. Good for anyone looking for something calm, reflective, and local before the fireworks and crowds take over.

๐บ Salute to the Troops Picnic & Concert
๐ Polliwog Park Amphitheater, 1601 Manhattan Beach Blvd., Manhattan Beach
๐ Sunday, July 5 | 5 PM-7 PM
๐ฐ Free
Manhattan Beach keeps the holiday weekend going with a picnic and concert honoring military service members and their families. The Satin Dollz bring a vintage, USO-style sound to Polliwog Park as part of the cityโs Concerts in the Park series. It is a slower Sunday option after the Fourth, which might be exactly what some people need. Bring a blanket, pack something easy, and expect parking around the park to take a little patience.

๐ค MEGG Album Release Show
๐ Deep End Live, 100 Fishermanโs Wharf, Redondo Beach
๐ Thursday, July 2 | Doors 7 PM, Show 8 PM
๐ฐ Ticketed
Redondo Beachโs own MEGG is coming back to the pier for an album release show at Deep End Live. She is celebrating the release of Low Life Club Deluxe after a run that includes Vans Warped Tour, national radio play, and shows with bands like The Used, Strung Out, Tomorrowโs Bad Seeds, and Pulley. This is a good local music pick if you want something louder than the usual Thursday night plan. Deep End Live is a smaller 21+ venue, so this one is better planned ahead.

๐น Mermaid Island and Hunter Porter also on the bill
๐น 21+ only with valid ID required
๐ฌ Movie on the Meadows: Superman
๐ The Meadows at Terranea Resort, Rancho Palos Verdes
๐ Friday, July 3 | 8:30 PM-10:30 PM
๐ฐ Ticketed
Terraneaโs Movie on the Meadows is the more laid-back Peninsula pick for Friday night. This one puts Superman outside on the resort lawn, which is a nice option if you want something family-friendly without building the whole night around a crowded fireworks plan. The timing makes it feel like an easy after-dinner plan if you are already on the Peninsula. Check Terraneaโs details before heading over so you know the seating and access rules.

๐ Gardena Stamp Tour
๐ Participating restaurants, Gardena
๐ Ongoing through July 19
๐ฐ Free to join; food purchase required
This is a good food angle for the week, especially if you want something that is not centered on July 4. Gardenaโs first-ever Stamp Tour sends people to participating restaurants to dine, collect stamps, and turn in completed postcards for gift cards and raffle entries. It is simple, local, and a nice reminder that Gardena should be in the food conversation more often. Keep it in your back pocket for a weeknight dinner or a casual weekend stop.

๐น Completed postcards can earn gift cards and raffle entries

๐ The Plaza at The Point, 850 S. Pacific Coast Hwy, El Segundo
๐ Wednesday, July 8 | 6 PM-8 PM
๐ฐ Free
The Pointโs Wednesday concert series starts this week and gives the issue a useful midweek landing spot. It is a low-lift way to get outside after work without making it a whole production. Bring a blanket or chair, grab food nearby, and keep it simple. The series runs through July and August, so this is also a good one to know about for the rest of summer.

๐ฅ๏ธ Windbreakers Yacht Rock Party
๐ Rock & Brews, 6300 Pacific Coast Highway, Redondo Beach
๐ Friday, July 3 | Doors 7:30 PM, Show 8 PM
๐ฐ Ticketed
If your Fourth weekend needs a little yacht rock, this is the easy Friday night lane. Windbreakers brings the soft-rock cover-band thing to Rock & Brews, with hits from the โ70s and โ80s. It is more of a meet-up-with-friends plan than a big production, which is probably the appeal. All ages are welcome, but guests must be 21+ with valid ID to purchase or consume alcohol.

๐น Doors at 7:30 PM, show at 8 PM
๐น Complimentary on-site parking available
๐ธ South Bay Snapshot
Thatโs it for this week!
Fourth of July weekend is one of those times when the South Bay gets busy in the best way. The Strand will be full, the beaches will be moving, and plenty of people will be out catching up, celebrating, and making the most of a long summer weekend.
With Americaโs 250th birthday in the mix, it feels like a good excuse to get outside, reconnect, and enjoy where we live.
If you have a friend who always says thereโs nothing happening here, send them this newsletter.
